What is the record for black bass in Texas?Įven though Stevensons’ fat bass is no longer the state record, it is still the biggest Texas bass ever caught by an angler who was actually targeting bass with an artificial lure. It has to share some world-class waters, like Lake Eufala with Alabama, and Clark’s Hill with South Carolina. Georgia, home of George Perry’s famous world-record largemouth (22 pounds, 4 ounces), is the spiritual Mecca of the bassin’ world. The biggest bass (9 pounds) I have ever caught in the United States came from this trophy bass factory. Anietra and guide Darrell Taylor | Photo Copyright: Anietra Hamper. It is endemic to the northern and eastern Edwards Plateau including headwaters of the San Antonio River, the Guadalupe River above Gonzales, the Colorado River north of Austin, and portions of the Brazos River drainage. The Guadalupe bass is found only in Texas and has been named the official state fish.
